Photosensitivity Diseases in Childhood: Experience From a Tertiary Photodiagnostic Centre

Jessica E McKeever, Andrea Lesar, Sally H Ibbotson

In this retrospective clinical review of 251 paediatric patients investigated for photosensitivity diseases, we characterise the symptoms and clinical features that led to diagnosis for this unique patient cohort. Inspired by the lack of existing literature in the area, we have identified areas of diagnostic challenge. We hope that our research helps to highlight the burden of photosensitivity conditions in children as there are often delays in diagnosis and there exists uncertainty amongst primary care teams and general dermatologists as to the nature of photosensitivity presentations in children.
