Photoinduced Atom Transfer Radical Addition for the Functionalization of Carbon–Carbon Multiple Bonds
Ning Yan, Xiaoqiang YuPhotoinduced atom transfer radical addition (ATRA) has become a powerful strategy for the vicinal functionalization of carbon–carbon multiple bonds in alkenes and alkynes, garnering significant attention due to its high efficiency, mild conditions, operational simplicity, and excellent atom economy. This review summarizes recent progress in photoinduced ATRA reactions, encompassing transition metal‐catalyzed systems (e.g., iridium/ruthenium complexes, copper complexes, gold, manganese, and iron) as well as transformations catalyzed or mediated by small organic molecules. The ATRA reagents discussed primarily include carbon tetrabromide/tetrachloride, bromotrichloromethane, electron‐deficient halides, perfluoroalkyl iodides, gem ‐dichloroalkanes, and dibromomethane.
