Personal adaptive potential of students: diagnostics and development during extracurricular activities

Irina Fedosova, Alena Kibal'nik

The purpose of the study is to identify the level of development of students' adaptive abilities during their entry into the educational process of the university, to develop and test a program that promotes the development of components of students' personal adaptive potential through the actualization of its mechanisms in various forms of extracurricular activities. Research methods and organization. To achieve the research objectives, a complex of theoretical and empirical methods was used: study, comparative analysis and synthesis of data from scientific sources, testing, a psychological and pedagogical experiment, and quantitative and qualitative methods of processing research data. The following diagnostic tools were applied: the standardized test by A.G. Maklakov and S.V. Chermyanin, the multi-level personality questionnaire "Adaptability" (MLQ), the methodology "Personal Aggressiveness and Conflictness" (E.P. Ilyin, P.A. Kovalev), and the Dembo-Rubinstein self-assessment diagnostic methodology (modified by A.M. Prikhozhan). Research results and conclusions. The implemented psychological and pedagogical experiment made it possible to test and confirm the assumption about the possibility of using various forms of extracurricular activities at the university that trigger the mechanisms of accumulation, convection, compensation, and replenishment of resources for the development of components of students' personal adaptive potential. As a result of testing a specially developed program, positive stable dynamics were recorded in improving the key indicators of first-year students' adaptive abilities.
