Christina M. Harris, Kelley A. Strout, Jennifer L. Bonnet, Liam O'Brien

Background:

This article aims to synthesize evidence from research examining the association between perceived faculty support and stress and anxiety among baccalaureate nursing students. Stress and anxiety are prevalent in nursing students due to many factors. Faculty psychological and functional supportive behaviors are external factors for students that vary across individual faculty members and influence students' experiences.

Method:

A literature review was conducted. Articles that included a population of baccalaureate nursing students and utilized the perceived faculty support scale (PFSS) and measured stress, anxiety, or both.

Results:

Findings showed that faculty support significantly influences nursing students' well-being.

Conclusion:

Given that only three articles met the inclusion criteria, further research is necessary to better understand the effect of faculty support on nursing student well-being.
