Past and future reflections on cultural management education and practice

Hua Fang

Since arts management education first emerged, debates over how to define the field—its disciplinary status, theory, and practice—have persisted. Amid dramatic changes in the international situation, funding uncertainties, evolving educational programs and student employment, and the impact of artificial intelligence, arts management education faces new challenges. To address these issues in arts management, this Editorial Conversation invited coeditors of the Journal of Cultural Management and Cultural Policy , Constance DeVereaux and Martin Tröndle, to discuss, review, and reflect on the significance of arts management as a discipline in our current society and how to respond to the future of arts management education.
