Abstract

Introduction

Educational Games Represent A Strategy For Diabetes Education, Enabling Interactive, Dynamic, And Fun Learning. The Playtest Corresponds To The Prototype Testing Phase With Players To Evaluate Fun, Mechanics, And Rules And Identify Flaws, Which Is Crucial In The Development Of Educational Technologies.

Objectives

To Describe The Testing Of The Medium-Fidelity Prototype Of The Diabetes And Action Board Game.

Methods

A Descriptive Study Conducted With Three Distinct Groups Of Participants At Different Times, Namely: Group 1—Master’s Students In The Graduate Program In Clinical Nursing And Health Care (PPCCLIS/UECE); Group 2 – Multidisciplinary Team Of Diabetes Specialists (Nurses, Dietitians, And Physical Therapists); And Group 3 – Professionals In The Fields Of Nursing, Nutrition, And Physical Therapy With Experience In Type 1 Diabetes.

Results

The Testing Phase For The Medium-Fidelity Game Prototype Involved Each Of The Three Groups Playing A Game Without The Developer’s Intervention, On Different Days. During Testing, Participants Took Notes And Offered Suggestions Aimed At Improving Various Aspects To Be Implemented In The Final Version. Improvements Were Made As The Tests Were Conducted; That Is, They Were Implemented After Each Round Of Testing To Be Tested With The Subsequent Group. After The Tests Were Completed, Modifications Were Made To The Mechanics, Gameplay, Card Content, Number Of Pieces And Players, Game Duration, And Clarity Of The Rules.

Conclusions

Conclusion: Based On The Tests, Changes Were Suggested To Ensure That The Game “Diabetes And Action” Serves As An Educational Tool With The Potential To Improve Treatment Adherence And Young People’s Understanding Of Their Condition In A Lighthearted And Engaging Manner.
