Organizations as Eco-phenomena

Pasi Heikkurinen

Abstract

Chapter 13 matures the implications of the consolidative process approach, or The Overall Process Orientation (TOPO), to the study and management of organizations through subjecting them to eco-phenomena, experiences that happen in our earthbound home. It asks what sustainable organization is and defines it as an emerging field of research aiming to promote the understanding of organizations, organizing, and the organized, as well as the social relevance of that understanding, in relation to sustainability. It shapes and steers the field of sustainable organization studies to examining the dynamics of enactors, enactments, and enablers, as well as enskilment, encountering and the entrance. Central to the field is advancement, that is, learning to sustain. It discusses the boundaries and borders and how mind matters in order to proclaim post-Cartesianism, a new organization of being (including knowledge).
