Optimization of polyelectrolyte bilayer polymer membranes for imidacloprid removal from water

Polyelectrolyte multilayer membranes comprising poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) and heparin sodium salt (HP) were found to be effective in removing the insecticide imidacloprid from water. The sequential deposition of PEG and HP onto the polyamide membrane resulted in the formation of a stable multilayer membrane system. The newly developed membrane was characterized using various sophisticated analytical instruments and exhibited a sound rejection efficiency of [Formula: see text]92% (9 bilayers) with a very high flux of 80.59[Formula: see text]m 3 /m 2 day.
