Open Science and Reproducibility in Educational Research
Kevin HansonOpen science is a movement to make every step of the scientific research process (i.e., study design, data, methods, analysis, and findings) transparent and accessible to all (Cao et al., 2023; Munafò et al., 2017; Nosek et al., 2015). In educational research, open science addresses a reproducibility crisis when studies cannot be replicated or validated by others, threatening trust in published results (Nosek et al., 2015; Open Science Collaboration, 2015). By sharing data, code, and research plans, and by following standards such as the TOP Guidelines (Grant et al., 2025), researchers make their work more credible and valuable to the broader community. The ultimate goal is to make educational research reliable, transparent, and collaborative.
