Open Lateral Retinacular Lengthening During an “À La Carte” Step‐by‐Step Surgical Approach for Habitual Patellar Dislocation

Abstract

Habitual patellar dislocation is rare and primarily characterized by superolateral soft‐tissue contractures. The surgical approach described focuses on a step‐by‐step, “à la carte”, release of these contractures. The algorithm and technique described here offer a reproducible surgical strategy applicable to both skeletally immature and mature patients.
