On the use of the Log Likelihood Ratio in Combining Several Means

B. M. Bennett, M. P. Allshouse

Summary

The use of the log likelihood ratio is discussed for the problem of point and interval estimates of a mean or regression coefficient based on samples with unequal precision. The validity of the χ 2 approximation employed is shown and several examples illustrate the method in the case of a mean.
