On the GTO Badge and the prerequisites for its emergence: on the 95th anniversary of the creation of the All-Russian Physical Culture Complex “Ready for Labor and Defense”

However, they were fully implemented only in the 1930s in the young Soviet republic and received a second breath in the first third of the current century. The purpose of the study is to present materials of a theoretical and retrospective analysis proving more than a century‑long history of the development of the attributes of the All-Russian Physical Culture and Sports Complex “Ready for Labor and Defense”. Research methods: theoretical analysis and generalization of scientific source. Research results and conclusions. The theoretical and retrospective analysis of the emergence of the GTO badge of the All-Russian Physical Culture and Sports Complex “Ready for Labor and Defense” testifies to more than a century‑long history of the formation of the idea of encouraging the working masses to engage in active motor activity. At the beginning of the 21st century, the GTO complex received a second breath and again began to serve for the benefit of the health of the Russian population.
