On seasonal influences, refrains, and weirdness: A response to Kaya Barry’s geographies of the seasons

Derek McCormack

Responding to the invitation offered by Kaya Barry to think more about seasonality, in this article I offer three supplements to her timely and important project. First, I revisit earlier geographical work on seasonality in order to think about the question of influence. Second, I consider how the shifting space–times of seasonality might be understood as refrains of a sort. Third, I reflect on what it might mean to think with/in the latitude-specific weirdness of un/seasonality.
