New Human Cancer Cell Culture Lines. I. SW-13, Small-Cell Carcinoma of the Adrenal Cortex

A permanent human tissue culture cell line was established from a small-cell carcinoma originating in the adrenal cortex. Electron microscopy revealed many bulb gap junctions (BGJ) in the cell line and occasional paired cisternae of the endoplasmic reticulum. The BGJ phenomenon appeared related to the capability of this cell line to form domes.
