Negative Contrast Radiography for Management of Teat Foreign Body in a Goat

N.K. Verma, A.K. Dhatterwal

A Jamunapari goat (four-year-old) was presented with the complaint of foreign body lodgement, swollen teat and absence of milk from the affected teat. The owner confirmed lodgement of the teat siphon in the teat canal while administering intramammary ointment. The case was diagnosed as foreign body obstruction of the teat cistern based on the history and radiographic examination. The teat siphon was successfully retrieved using small mosquito artery forceps without any incision. The study describes the successful diagnosis and management of a rare case of foreign bodies in the teat canal of a goat using radiography.
