Multiobjective Synthesis and Envelope Verification of MFC Current Control for a Hybrid-Excited Permanent-Magnet-Assisted Synchronous Reluctance Machine

Jan Wyrwicz, Marcin Wardach, Maja Kocoń

Hybrid-excited permanent-magnet-assisted synchronous reluctance machines require coupled control of stator and field currents. This study compares three established model-following current-control placements, m, p, and mp, using a common nonlinear plant and matched tuning budgets. Three-seed synthesis retained 1414 original-domain and 1402 wider-domain controllers. The p placement achieved the lowest retained tracking-error integral in both domains. Widening the gains gave m the largest pooled hypervolume; at an 80% voltage budget, its best retained tracking-error integral decreased from 53.49 to 44.96 ms. Twelve-ray verification showed that envelope preferences depend on controller selection and summary metric. Supporting studies found tracking changes below 0.20% under field-layer refits and the highest aggregate delay/noise acceptance for the selected m controllers. All 432 initial-current perturbations of three compromise controllers recovered in the unsaturated model, but fifteen requested excessive stator voltage. All fifteen voltage-violating cases also recovered with clipping and unchanged PI laws, without anti-windup. The practical outcome is to consider p for the tracking extreme and m for voltage-constrained or implementation-sensitive candidates. The tested mp sets provide no consistent aggregate advantage for default selection. These recommendations apply to the stated simulations. Stability evidence is numerical and local; hardware validation remains untested.
