MOTIVATIONAL MECHANISMS FOR STUDENT PARTICIPATION IN SPORTS CLUB ACTIVITIES
M. Zhelinskaya, N. ZaharovThe purpose of this study is to investigate the mechanisms that motivate university students to participate in student sports clubs (SSCs) in one form or another, or, on the contrary, demotivate them, discouraging them from playing sports. As part of this study, the author conducted a survey of students from a number of leading universities in St. Petersburg, as well as a questionnaire for the heads of student sports clubs, based on the results of which the main motivating and demotivating factors that attract students to work in the structure of the SSC or preventing this were identified. A separate consideration is given to related factors that cannot be directly attributed to motivating factors, but which contribute to the “activation” of motivators (the so-called “trigger factors”). The important role of SSC in the self-actualization of students, including those with disabilities, is noted. General scientific research methods, specialized social research methods, and a model for sociological research and improvement of management mechanisms in organizations, developed on the basis of practical experience, were used in the study [9].
