Monsoon-Driven Seasonal Dynamics of Odonata Assemblages in Trimbakeshwar (M.S.)
Harshada B. Bhadange, Vikram R. KakulteOdonates are freshwater insects, which act as bioindicators of aquatic ecosystem. A survey was conducted in Trimbakeshwar from June 2024 to April 2025 to assess odonate diversity and abundance. Total 660 individuals, representing 24 species from 6 families were recorded. Brachythemis contaminata and Pantala flavescens were most abundant species. The abundance of Odonate was highest during monsoon (June-August), which declined during dry season, with lowest abundance in the month of February. Shannon diversity index (2.52) and species richness (3.69) were highest in August, while lowest in February. The assemblage exhibited strong monsoon-driven seasonality.
