Himanshu Agarwal, Amar P. Garg, Surendra Upadhyay, Amit Kumar

Lumpy skin disease (LSD) is caused by LSD virus which is an infectious viral disease of cattle caused by a capripox virus genus and belongs to family poxviridae. This study reports molecular characterization and phylogenetic analysis of lumpy skin disease virus from the clinical samples suspected for LSD in Uttar Pradesh. The skin biopsy samples were screened for LSDV using PCR to confirm presence of LSDV by amplifying the P32 gene. These amplified genes were sequenced and phylogenetic tree were constructed. All four sequences aligned in the same clade and showed close resemblance with previously reported LSD viruses from different geographical regions of India.
