The article discusses modern automation technologies used in the electric power industry and industry in the context of digital transformation. It is shown that automation is becoming one of the key factors in improving the reliability of energy supply, the efficiency of production processes, reducing technological risks and increasing the manageability of complex technical systems. Special attention is paid to automated process control systems, SCADA systems, digital substations, relay protection and automation devices, intelligent accounting, industrial Internet of Things, digital twins and artificial intelligence technologies. Based on industry and statistical data, the scale of application of automated solutions in the electric power industry and industry is considered. It is noted that the high proportion of correct triggers of relay protection and automation devices confirms the importance of automated systems for the stability of the power system, however, the presence of incorrect triggers indicates the need for further modernization of equipment and the development of digital diagnostics. In industry, the spread of advanced manufacturing technologies indicates an increase in the level of technological modernization, but there remains a gap between the use of ready-made solutions and in-house technology development. It is concluded that the prospects for the development of automation are associated with the introduction of predictive diagnostics, digital twins, intelligent control systems, increased cybersecurity, the development of domestic software and hardware solutions and the training of qualified personnel.
