Mobilizing information in cancer news: How Bengali and English newspapers deliver actionable health messages in Bangladesh

Analyzing cancer news in Bangladesh (2019–2024), this study assesses mobilizing information (MI) in Bangladesh Pratidin (Bengali) and Daily Sun (English). A content analysis of 257 web stories coded MI presence/types, risk factors, sources and prevention focus. MI appeared in 80.8% of Bangladesh Pratidin versus 29.1% of Daily Sun; tactical MI dominated. Prevention angles and preventable cancers predicted MI; environmental/occupational risks also correlated. Despite disparities, coverage was sparse. Findings align with cues-to-action and social responsibility, recommending cancer beats and MI checklists.
