Mobilizing HEARTcare Planning: A Multiple Case Research Study
Astrid H. Kendrick, Lisa M. Everitt, Shelly Russell-Mayhew, Carlyn Volume-Smith, Trent WaterhouseThe purpose of this multiple case research project was to pilot a workplace wellbeing initiative, HEARTcare planning, in a variety of educational settings. Pilot participant groups included school administrators, designated wellbeing champions, teacher professional learning (PL) groups, and school staff teams. This chapter describes the initiative, pilot group cases, and lists four propositions for implementation for innovation champions intending to prevent burnout and compassion fatigue (CF). Upon data analysis, we found several opportunities and challenges with transforming research findings into functional in-school practices and provide suggestions for applying the innovation-decision process model (Rogers, 1995/2003) to improving workplace wellbeing.
