Mitigating the Project Delay in Oman Construction Industry by Adopting New Technologies – Private Sector Perspective

Previous studies have identified that workforce productivity, procurement, technology gaps, and management are among the major obstacles that caused a delay in Oman construction projects and have an impact on a private firm’s competitive market position, reputation, revenue, and cash flow. The study aims to identify the primary factors that lead to the project delays in construction projects in Oman and examine the impact of new technology on the project performance. Mixed methods have been designed to enhance the level of credibility and achieve the research objectives. Both quantitative and qualitative techniques were used for conducting case studies and well-structured interviews. Research results revealed that applying appropriate Project Management methods and innovative technologies have the potential to reduce project delay and mitigate the risks by improving project management tools. The waterfall methodology was found to be the most successful method for the Oman construction project. Using new technologies like BIM, 3D printing, drones, AI-driven project management.
