Midlife time-restricted feeding preserves skeletal muscle insulin responsiveness and function during aging
Raz Ben-David, Nikita Sarvin, Eli Carmeli, Nitsan Dahan, Tomer Shlomi, Shenhav ShemerMidlife time-restricted feeding preserved lean mass, muscle performance, glucose tolerance, and insulin-stimulated glucose uptake in male mice. These physiological benefits were accompanied by greater membrane abundance of selected components of the insulin receptor-plakoglobin-DGC signaling assembly and enhanced postprandial AKT signaling. The data reveal an age-sensitive response to nutritional timing but do not establish a causal connection between preservation of this assembly and the physiological improvements.
