Microwave‐Assisted One‐Pot Synthesis of Amine‐Functionalized Graphene Oxide as an Electrode Material for Supercapacitors
Yasemin TorlakABSTRACT
This study reports the synthesis and electrochemical evaluation of amine‐functionalized graphene oxide (PPD‐GO) as an electrode material for supercapacitor applications. Graphene oxide was functionalized with p ‐phenylenediamine (PPD) through a simple two‐step approach. Successful amine functionalization was confirmed by FT‐IR, XRD, TGA‐DSC, Raman spectroscopy, SEM‐EDX, BET, and TEM analyses. The incorporation of PPD effectively suppresses GO agglomeration and promotes the formation of a uniform thin‐film electrode structure. Moreover, the introduction of amine groups contributes additional redox‐active sites, leading to enhanced pseudocapacitive charge storage behavior. Electrochemical measurements demonstrate that the PPD‐GO electrode delivers a specific capacitance of 23.19 F g −1 at a current density of 0.5 A g −1 and achieves 31.15 F g −1 at a scan rate of 10 mV s −1 . The electrode also exhibits excellent cycling stability with high capacitance retention over 3000 charge–discharge cycles. PPD‐GO shows stable pseudocapacitive behavior and good cycling durability, indicating potential for supercapacitor electrodes.
