Methodology for optimizing the energy transition of mines using engineering experiment

Željko Simić

This paper presents a methodological approach to optimizing the energy transition on degraded mining surfaces by applying the theory of engineering experiments. The research focuses on repurposing brownfield sites into photovoltaic systems, utilizing a modified multiple regression model to quantify the impact of investment types and institutional effectiveness on renewable energy consumption. Special emphasis is placed on metrological precision according to the ISO/IEC 17025 standard, measurement uncertainty analysis in high-dust mining environments, and the implementation of energy storage technologies such as Vanadium Redox Flow Batteries (VRFB). The results indicate that the synergy of technical standardization, ecological restoration through carbon sequestration, and regulatory support directly minimizes ESG risks, making brownfield locations a more economically and technically viable solution compared to greenfield projects.
