Mephentermine is a sympathomimetic drug with limited reports of misuse and dependence. This case report presents a 23-year-old male who developed a dependence on mephentermine injections while preparing for the army selection exam. Initially recommended by his coach to enhance stamina, his use escalated over time, leading to tolerance, withdrawal symptoms, and couse of alcohol. Despite multiple unsuccessful attempts to quit, he sought psychiatric intervention, where he was diagnosed with substance dependence based on ICD-11 criteria. The patient was managed with bupropion, symptomatic treatment, and psychoeducation, showing significant improvement and achieving abstinence for 3 months. This case highlights the potential for mephentermine dependence and the importance of early recognition and intervention.
