Melissopalynology, the study of pollen in honey, has gained global significance, with notable contributions from Europe and the United States. Over the past decades, India has emerged as a key player in this domain, with research spanning from the early 1950s to contemporary advancements. India's rich floral diversity, contributes to a wide spectrum of pollen profiles in honey. Regional distinctiveness in honey is evident with seasonal variations influencing pollen availability and composition of honey. Melissopalynological research plays an important role in apiculture industry, authenticity and quality of honey, and ecological sustainability. This review consolidates studies on melissopalynology in India, emphasizing the identification of primary bee-foraging plants and their seasonal variations across diverse ecological regions.
