MEDICAL AND PREVENTIVE ASPECTS OF USING COMPLEX PLANT EXTRACT BASED ON MEDICINAL HERBS IN DENTAL PATIENTS (LITERATURE REVIEW)

. Herbal combination medicines are traditionally used in the complex therapy of inflammatory diseases of the periodontium and oral mucosa as agents with antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, astringent and wound-healing effects. Interest in herbal medicines in the treatment of inflammatory periodontal diseases is steadily increasing, considering them as an effective and safe addition to basic periodontal treatment. Material and methods. Sources were searched through PubMed, Google Scholar, CyberLeninka and eLIBRARY.RU, as well as on the archives of specialized dental journals (Parodontologiya, Modern Dentistry, Pharmatheque, Russian Journal of Dentistry, and others) using the keywords "Stomatofit", "Dentosept" (hereinafter referred to as the Herbal medicine), "Stomatofit A", "Dentosept A" (hereinafter referred to as the Herbal medicine "A") in combination with the terms "gingivitis", "periodontitis", "stomatitis", "oral mucosa", "clinical study", "in vitro" in Russian and English. Results. The systematized results derived from original full-text articles, systematic reviews, and meta-analyses reflect various therapeutic and preventive applications of the Drug / Drug "A" (hereinafter referred to as the "Drugs") in patients with periodontal disease and those with various systemic conditions. The expansion of indications complements the international evidence base and justifies the expediency of further study of the drug in the framework of preventive oral hygiene programs. Despite the high effectiveness of Herbal medicine/Herbal medicine «A» in relation to the above aspects, the anti-inflammatory and reparative effectiveness of the drug is especially emphasized. Conclusion. In terms of clinical efficacy in gingivitis and periodontitis, Herbal medicine/Herbal medicine «A» is comparable to standard synthetic antiseptics, but has a more favorable safety profile, which justifies its use in complex therapy and prevention programs, including in patients of risk group.
