Mechanisms for the formation of civic identity in modern Russian schools

The purpose of the study is to determine the extent to which the existing mechanisms in schools for the formation of civic identity contribute to the development and realization of an active and responsible civic position in students. Research methods and organization. A survey method was used, employing a questionnaire developed by the authors, which made it possible to identify the features of the cognitive, emotional-evaluative, and activity components, to determine the content of the imagological, value-based, and event-based aspects of civic identity, as well as to ascertain the attitude of students toward the mechanisms used by the school for the formation of civic identity. Research results and conclusions. The study showed that the structure of civic identity of schoolchildren is dominated by ideas, values, and views characteristic of the service-client model of relations between citizens and the state. Based on the results of the conducted research, a conclusion is drawn about the need for further development of the system of civic-patriotic and spiritual-moral education of schoolchildren, which involves the inclusion of activities aimed at forming their commitment to the values of service and solidarity, developing civic activity and responsibility for the fate of the country.
