Mechanism of striations structure generation in low-pressure CO2 discharge
Zifan Ye, Qiang Fu, Jialun Luo, Luyao Liu, Zhengshi ChangIn this Letter, we report for the first time the spatial four striations symmetric structure of CO2 discharge and analyze the formation mechanism of the striations structure through phase resolved optical emission spectroscopy (PROES) combined with numerical simulation. The results indicate that in the four striations structure, a pair of striations near the electrode surface is caused by random heating due to the expansion of the sheath; a pair of striations far from the electrode surface is caused by Ohmic heating due to the electric field in the plasma bulk. We also verified the aforementioned conclusion through PROES results at different gas pressures.
