Abstract

Gastric variceal bleeding (GVB) is a life-threatening complication of portal hypertension. The management of GVB in the presence of acute portal vein thrombosis (PVT) is challenging. A 68-year-old male presented with refractory GVB with acute PVT, which was successfully managed with mechanical thrombectomy, shunt coiling, and anticoagulation, emphasizing the importance of a multidisciplinary team approach.
