The squeeze film damper (SFD) is a passive vibration control device widely employed in aero-engine vibration management, characterized by its simple structure and high reliability. However, under specific operating conditions, the oil film exhibits pronounced nonlinear behavior. To mitigate the nonlinearity of conventional SFD, an Elastic ring squeeze film damper (ERSFD) was proposed. This incorporates an elastic ring structure with multiple protrusions distributed internally and externally within the oil film. This effectively reduces the oil film’s nonlinear behavior while offering a more compact design, presenting promising engineering applications. However, the elastic ring’s structure is relatively complex and imposes stringent requirements on structural stability and fatigue strength. A bidirectional fluid-structure interaction simulation model for the ERSFD was established to investigate the vibration stress characteristics and underlying mechanisms of the elastic ring. An experimental test rig for evaluating the vibration stress properties of the ERSFD was designed and constructed, enabling mechanical stress testing of the elastic ring. Results demonstrate that the measured time-domain stress characteristics of the elastic ring are consistent with simulation analyses, validating the accuracy of the mechanical characteristics simulation.
