Measurement of Orbital and Stellar Parameters of Two Short-Period Eclipsing Binaries Using TESS Data

David Joffe, Thi Tran

We report the results of a study of orbital and stellar parameters of the short-period eclipsing binaries TIC 53847727 and TIC 29914740 using TESS data and Gaiadatasets. The photometric transit data was analyzed in a two-stage process, first with the Lightkurve package to obtain the basic transit properties, and then with the allesfitter software package, using Markov Chain Monte Carlo. Results are reported for the stellar radii and brightness ratios, the orbital semi-major axes and inclinations, and the period and durations of the transits. Limb-darkening coefficient results are also reported for TIC 53847727. Uncertainties in the results are given for fits with a fixed value of the mass ratio q=0.6 and do not include the uncertainty on the q value itself, which may be substantial. We show that the eclipse signal observed in the aperture of TIC 29914747 is diluted light originating from the nearby binary TIC 29914740, and we present a joint Gaia–TESS solution for the true source.
