Meaning-Getting with Less Stimulus

Pasi Heikkurinen

Abstract

Chapter 10 further indulgences in the question concerning meaning in being alive. It postulates a three-fold definition of meaning, draws on process philosophy to arrive at an understanding about meaning in relation to sustainability (is sustainability the utmost source of meaning?) and discusses the significance of de-worlding existential phenomenology and intention in the process of getting meaning. In the current abundance of the possible source of meaning, immersion to simplicity is proposed as a focal process to experience meaning. This leads the chapter to defend reduction. To reduce, we should turn to being-in-nature, which requires of us new kinds of skills.
