Manisha Solanki, Sanjay Solanki, Astha Bhatt, Hrushikesh Sonawane, Darshan R singh ChouhanSevere resorption of the posterior maxillary alveolar ridge possess a major challenge in implant dentistry due to reduced bone height and pneumatization of the maxillary sinus. Direct sinus lift technique has been adopted to augment bone volume and facilitate implant placement. Aim of the study was to evaluate the effectiveness, predictability, and outcomes of direct sinus lift procedures in patients with severely resorbed maxillary arches. The study was conducted on patients with residual bone height =4 mm in the posterior maxilla. Five patients underwent direct sinus lift with bone grafting, followed by simultaneous or delayed implant placement. Clinical and radiographic evaluations performed over a follow-up period of 6–12 months. Parameters assessed included vertical bone gain, implant survival rate, peri-implant stability, and complications. Results shows significant bone augmentation with high implant survival rates and minimal complications. So the direct sinus can be a reliable and effective procedure for managing severely resorbed maxillary arches.
