This article presents an overview of modern materials and technologies used for the fabrication of temporary prosthetic restorations in dentistry. The fabrication of temporary restorations is considered an important stage of restorative prosthetics in the clinical practice of prosthetic dentistry. These restorations should function as effectively as definitive restorations, restoring function, aesthetics, and phonetics while promoting proper hygiene. The effectiveness and safety of temporary restorations clearly depend on the materials and technologies used for their fabrication. Therefore, this review focuses on polymeric materials based on polymethyl methacrylate and their physical, mechanicaland aesthetic properties. An assessment is made of the use of modern digital technologies, CAD/CAM, and 3D printing for the fabrication of temporary prosthetic restorations, as well as their advantages and disadvantages compared to traditional methods. The article highlights the relevance of further research in the field of digital dentistry.
