Make‐Use‐Remake: Toward Indefinite Low‐Temperature Material Loops

ABSTRACT

Today's material sourcing and recycling face many limitations, including high energy demand, environmental impact, quality degradation of the recycled material, financial costs, and geopolitical barriers. We present a regenerable materials platform comprising microparticles joined in a matrix‐free solid exclusively through a temperature‐responsive polymer shell (poly( N ‐acryloyl glycinamide), pNAGA), yielding structures with significant mechanical integrity (ultimate strength in the MPa range). We demonstrate the versatility of this approach by producing materials from diverse types of microparticles, including sawdust, aluminium, glass, and their mixtures. The materials can be processed below 80°C by hot‐pressing, injection molding, vacuum drying, or extrusion, and reprocessed in water by warm agitation, while maintaining performance over at least 50 full regeneration cycles, without the need for the addition of virgin materials. This recyclo‐conglomerate concept offers a scalable route toward sustainable, reconfigurable materials that can be repeatedly reshaped at low temperatures from heterogeneous particulate feedstocks, supporting more circular manufacturing.
