Obstructive defecation syndrome and pelvic floor disorders represent a spectrum of conditions associated with significant morbidity and impairment in quality of life. These disorders may involve the anterior, middle, and posterior pelvic compartments and are often managed by different clinical specialties. Multicompartmental involvement is common and may be underestimated by clinical examination alone. Magnetic resonance defecography enables comprehensive evaluation by demonstrating the site, extent, and functional impact of pelvic floor abnormalities across all compartments and has emerged as the preferred imaging modality for assessment of pelvic floor dysfunction.
