Magnetic regulatory fabrication of Fe 3 O 4 @PVP@SiO 2 /hydrogel

Magnetic composite hydrogels with favorable biocompatibility have recently attracted extensive attention from academia and industry. Benefiting from their outstanding water dispersibility, high colloidal stability and excellent biocompatibility, such materials have been widely applied in information storage, bioassays, environmental remediation and other fields. In this work, we report a facile synthetic route for Fe 3 O 4 @PVP@SiO 2 magnetic nanoparticles, which are further embedded into a hydrogel matrix to fabricate high-performance Fe 3 O 4 @PVP@SiO 2 /hydrogel composite materials. Our experimental results reveal that the as-prepared composite hydrogel exhibits tunable structural color, endowing it promising application prospects in vital areas including color displays, bio-detection and anti-counterfeiting technology.
