Lucian’s Transport Economic Notions: Commuting to Hades
Christos EvangelinosAbstract
The present paper will discuss the economic dimensions of transportation as they pertain to Lucian’s “Dialogues of the Dead.” Utilizing the paradigm of “soul transportation to Hades” as a case study, this analysis elucidates the economic principles embedded within Lucian’s oeuvre and draws parallels to the contemporary scientific and political discourse. It is evident that Lucian had already anticipated certain contemporary competition theory and regulatory approaches.
