LLM-Assisted Standards Conformance Evaluation of Optical Transceivers Through Executable Normative Rules and a Canonical Crosswalk

Haris Hassan, João Pedro, Luís Cancela

Qualifying optical transceivers requires interpreting vendor datasheets together with multiple independent standards and multi-source agreements (MSAs), including OIF-400ZR, OpenZR+, OpenROADM, and SFF-8024. Existing retrieval-based approaches can locate relevant clauses, but they do not reliably resolve applicability, identifier namespaces, or executable compliance rules across heterogeneous standards. This paper presents a standards-compilation framework for automated optical transceiver qualification. Normative documents are compiled into versioned executable artifacts that preserve applicability conditions, parameter semantics, units, reference points, and provenance. Proprietary datasheets are converted into structured operating-mode records by a two-pass extractor bound to a typed schema. A canonical crosswalk then maps vendor terms to normative concepts and keeps the original units and reference points. Qualification is performed through deterministic triggering, attribution, and identity-based routing before parameter-level evaluation. The framework is evaluated on commercial coherent optical transceiver datasheets spanning multiple vendors and standards. The two-pass extraction pipeline improves structured identity preservation and reduces the need for reviewer corrections compared with a single-pass baseline. Deterministic routing achieves 99.4% routing accuracy on independently derived reference labels with zero unsafe routing assignments in the evaluated corpus, outperforming retrieval-based baselines. A productivity evaluation further estimates an 85% reduction in expert review time for complex datasheets by shifting manual work from document interpretation to structured evidence review. The proposed framework provides a reproducible and auditable foundation for standards-aware optical transceiver qualification to correct governing records.
