Current comparative evidence between metabolic bariatric surgery and incretin‐based pharmacotherapy for weight loss in adults with type 2 diabetes remains limited. Our systematic review and meta‐analysis suggests greater weight loss following metabolic bariatric surgery while highlighting the urgent need for high‐quality prospective head‐to‐head comparative studies.
