LIFE SATISFACTION IN THE DIGITAL WORLD: THE ROLE OF OVERALL, HOME AND WORKPLACE INTERNET USE

Bayram Veli Doyar, Dilek Çetin
Technology enables economic agents to achieve their maximization goals more efficiently. One of the indispensable technologies of the 21st century is the internet. This article therefore explores the role of internet use, both at home and at work, in relation to life satisfaction. For this purpose, we use a survey dataset covering 37,688 individuals across 40 European countries in 2023. Life satisfaction is estimated using the generalized ordered logit model. The main findings show that frequent internet users overall and daily home internet users have a significantly higher probability of being very satisfied with life, compared to non-users. However, neither occasional nor daily workplace internet users differ significantly from non-users in any life satisfaction category.
