Latin America’s Contribution to IB Scholarship
Luis A. Pérez-Batres, Michael J. Pisani, Jonathan P. DohWe investigated the Latin American representation on IB scholarship. To frame our perspective, we acknowledged that Latin America’s economic footprint ranged from 3.20% (firms included in Forbes Global) to 6.34% (global output). As a region of interest, Latin America appeared to be adequately represented. In contrast, Latin American-based authors were a rarity, representing only 0.58% of the IB voices in the core IB journals. Moreover, even for studies focusing on the Latin American region, only 6.5% of Latin American-based authors made up the investigators studying it. The paper demonstrated the need for more Latin American-based scholars on IB academic publications.
