Jadidism, Progressive National Educators and “New-method” Schools in the Taurida Province in the Late 19th and Early 20th Centuries

The article examines the activities of progressive national educators of the Taurida province in the late 19th and early 20th centuries in the framework of spreading the ideas of Jadidism, in the context of the general development of the public education system of the Crimean Tatars and the upbringing of the younger generation in a multicultural and multi-confessional society. The analysis of historiography has demonstrated significant research interest and depth of study of this topic. Many initiatives related to the national and cultural revival of the Crimean Tatars are associated with the name of the outstanding educator and public figure Ismail Gasprinsky, and his work in the field of reforming the public education system of the Turkic peoples of Russia greatly contributed to the intellectual and spiritual development of the Crimean Tatar youth. Like-minded people of I. Gasprisnky, teachers and representatives of the progressive-minded intelligentsia of the Taurida province made an important contribution to the dissemination of educational ideas and education of the younger generation.
