Abstract

A replacement name, Yahganona Sihvonen, Hausmann & Brehm nom. nov ., is proposed for the preoccupied genus name Ona Sihvonen, Hausmann & Brehm, 2026 (Lepidoptera: Apoprogonidae). Ona was initially described by Metcalf, 1954 for Homoptera: Derbidae from Micronesia: Ponape Island in the western Pacific. Consequently, the single southern South American species previously classified in Ona is combined with the new name: Yahganona australis Sihvonen, Hausmann & Brehm, comb. nov . Further, Yahganonainae nom. nov . Sihvonen, Hausmann & Brehm, 2026 is proposed for invalid Onainae Sihvonen, Hausmann & Brehm, 2026 because the name of its type genus is a junior homonym. Yahganona australis is a rarely collected species, and thus far, only five male specimens are known. To raise awareness on this species, we provide descriptions and photographs of the collecting sites in Argentina: Tierra del Fuego, Tolhuin, which were not available at the time of the original description.
