Isolation, Identification and Phosphate Solubilizing Activity of Bacillus Siralis RA-FI1 from Agricultural Soils of Latur Region, Maharashtra

Firdous S. Biradar

Phosphate-solubilizing bacteria (PSB) play an important role in converting insoluble phosphate into soluble forms, thereby refining soil fertility and crop productivity. Present study was undertaken to isolate, identify, and evaluate the phosphate-solubilizing activity of Bacillus siralis Ra-Fi1 isolated from soil samples collected from the Latur region of Maharashtra. Soil samples were collected from agricultural fields and processed using the serial dilution and spread plate technique.. The isolates obtained were purified and subjected to morphological and biochemical characterization and identification. One of the bacterial isolate was identified as Bacillus siralis on the basis of colony morphology, Gram staining, and standard biochemical tests, It exhibited significant phosphate-solubilizing activity. The study highlights the potential of this bacterial strain as a plant growth-promoting rhizobacterium (PGPR) that can enhance phosphorus availability in soil
