Joseph Lincy, Sebastian Soosairaj, Henry David Raja ABSTRACT
A new species of Schoenoplectiella (Cyperaceae) from the scrub vegetation of Cuddalore District, Tamil Nadu, India, is herein described and illustrated. The proposed species shows morphological affinity with Schoenoplectiella erecta ; however, it can be clearly distinguished by several diagnostic characters, including the absence of perianth bristles and ligule, the presence of a well‐developed creeping rhizome, oblongoid seeds, and a sheath with a truncate mouth.
