Is IB Research too Broad to be Functional? Nature of the Challenge for IB Academics
Raj AggarwalThere are very few International Business departments in Business Schools with most Business Schools organized in departments reflecting functional fields such as accounting, marketing, management, etc. Each such department has their own tenure and promotion standards. This generally means that publications in functional area scholarly journals are valued more than scholarly publications in other areas, such as international business. This poses a challenge for faculty who write and teach in international business as they must also publish in scholarly journals that reflect their departmental functional area of business. This is a particularly important challenge for junior faculty members.
